The Alberta-based company is a licensed medical cannabis producer and they are in the process of acquiring Pointe-Claire company Peloton Pharmaceuticals.

A license and building inspection is first needed from Health Canada.

“It’s a long and arduous one – it can take quite a while; there are many steps to follow,” said Adam Greenblatt, head of Quebec engagement for Tweed, a medical cannabis company.

Pointe-Claire residents don’t appear concerned about the development.

Other Point-Claire residents Global News spoke with agree.

“It relieves pain – someone needs to do it,” one resident said. “If it’s not done by organized crime and it’s done by legal companies, I’m fine with that.”

Global News requested comment from the mayor of Pointe-Claire, but he wasn’t available.

“People [have] to be more educated in knowing what they are doing and what [cannabis] can do for you,” Hale said.

Aurora Cannabis’ new facility is expected to be ready for inspection by later this summer.
