Buried car in Montreal causes social media stir

As the snow melts across Montreal, unusual objects often appear.

But residents in Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO), in Montreal’s West Island, never thought they’d find a car, buried under a snowbank in the Brunswick Place parking lot.

A recent Facebook comment said the Mazda Tribute was first seen in January.

Residents told Global News they wondered why it wasn’t towed before being covered in snow.

Merchants at Brunswick Place told Global News the management of the strip mall is in China.

“It’s a car,” said Diane Mathewsky, visibly perplexed.

“It’s not like losing something in your purse.”

Police took the car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) off the dashboard, but told Global News the car has neither been reported stolen or missing.

Since it’s on private property, it’s up to the owner of the mall to decide whether or not to move it.
