Passenger with special needs found safe, suspect arrested after truck was stolen from Meadowlark Mall

A 46-year-old man who was inside a 1977 Chevy Silverado when it was stolen from Meadowlark Mall Tuesday afternoon has been found safe and unharmed.

Police said the man, who functions at the level of a seven-year-old, was located about 10 blocks from the mall.

The Edmonton Police Service said the theft was reported at 2:30 p.m. at Meadowlark Mall (159 Street and 87 Avenue).

A 1977 maroon Chevy Silverado was left running with the 46-year-old passenger inside.

The truck was found in Stony Plain at 4:45 p.m. and a male suspect was arrested, police said. Charges are pending.
