Seven people were treated in hospital this morning after a house fire on the Burnaby and New Westminster border.
Neighbours woke up to the sounds of breaking glass and children screaming outside the home on Tenth Avenue, between 4th Street and McBride, around 2 a.m.
The fire was first spotted by a paramedic driving by and when fire crews arrived flames were pouring out of the front of the house.

It is believed the fire started in a bedroom in the basement.
The damage to the home is extensive. It is not yet clear how the fire started but a fire investigator is on scene.
Maria Uppal has lived in the home for eight years and she estimates she has lost everything.
“It’s awful, it’s all gutted,” she says.
