Global Calgary took our show on the road to Inglewood on Thursday, Feb. 16.
The southeast neighbourhood is just east of the downtown core and Fort Calgary. It’s home to our city’s original main street, which dates back to 1875.
Linda Olsen, Gord Gillies and the Global News team broadcast live from Smithbilt Hats. The legendary company has called Inglewood home for almost a decade.
Watch below: Global’s Gord Gillies wanders down 9 Avenue with historian Harry Sanders, learning about the famous Garry Theatre. Did you know it started out as a grocery store and at one time played ‘naughty’ movies?

Watch below: 9 Avenue S.E. packs a punch for Calgarians looking for some culture. Artists’ work isn’t only displayed on gallery walls but can also be found along the sidewalks and side streets of Inglewood. Tracy Nagai reports.
