Student, 17, stabbed in the chest at west-end Toronto high school

One person is in custody after a 17-year-old male student was stabbed inside an Etobicoke high school Monday.

Toronto Paramedics said crews were called to Thistletown Collegiate Institute at 1:15 p.m. The student, who had a single stab wound, was taken to hospital in serious, but stable condition.

A Toronto police spokeswoman said a police officer stationed at the school was able to locate the victim in the cafeteria shortly after the incident occurred.

She said officers responded along with a police dog team, which helped locate the suspect.

Police said one person was in custody and that officers were searching the school “to ensure safety” of students and staff.
