A third man is facing murder charges in connection with a man who went missing in Regina back in 2013.
Ronald Matthew Kay was the subject of a missing persons report after he was last seen on Nov. 10, 2013 at a Saskatchewan Roughriders football game.
Kay was later listed on Regina’s long-term missing persons list. A renewed investigation into the case determined that Kay had been killed.
This is sad news for Kay’s cousin, Shellyn Kay, but she said it also helps provide closure.
“I’m just grateful that there’s some sort of closure. I know they haven’t found him yet. That will be the next step,”

The location of Ronald Kay’s body is still unknown. Shellyn hopes it is found soon so there can be a proper funeral to say goodbye.
Shellyn frequently saw Kay because of her volunteer work at Carmichael Outreach and remembers her cousin as a kind, caring man.
“After his adopted parents passed away he came into the city to look after his biological mom, Marlene, so I’d run into him a lot,” she said.
“He came [to Carmichael] for meals and clothing. He’d come in for coffee. We saw him every morning.”
Regina police said Monday they had arrested a 29-year-old and a 38-year-old male in connection to Kay’s death. Later Monday afternoon, Regina said a 21-year-old man had also been charged.
Trevor Evan Asapace, 29, Bill Leonard Favel, 38, and Lester Alvin Favel, 21, have all been charged with second-degree murder. All three men are from Regina.
Asaapace turned himself into police near the end of December on unrelated property crime warrants and he is serving a short prison sentence at the Regina Correctional Centre.
Police would not confirm whether or not this led to the murder charges.
Asapace and Bill Favel made their first court appearance on these charges on the morning of Jan. 9. Lester Favel appeared in court Monday afternoon.
All three remain in custody, and will be back in court on Monday, January 16.
