Winter storm warnings continue for southeastern Manitoba

WINNIPEG – Parts of southeastern Manitoba are under a winter storm warning Tuesday morning.

A low pressure system is tracking into Ohio continuing to bring snow and blowing snow to parts of the province Tuesday.

Strong northernly winds continue especially in the Red River Valley where Environment Canada said winds are gusting to 60 km/hour, reducing visibility with blowing snow.

Areas near Sprague are expected to see 15 cm by the end of the snowfall.

Communities including Morden, Winkler and Altona are expected to see total snowfall accumulations of 9 cm.

Winnipeg is expected to see 7 cm of snow by the end and areas near Pinawa are expected to have about 9 cm.

Environment Canada estimates an additional 2-4 cm of snow will fall before it tapers off from west to east through the late morning Tuesday and early afternoon.

Also Environment Canada is telling people to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
