Outdoor adventurers can soon try sliding down a snow-covered tubing track in southwest Calgary.
WinSport’s new Acura Tube Park opens to the public on Saturday.
According to the organization, the 10-lane tube park is the largest in western Canada. It offers single rider and group riding lanes.
“This takes really no skill and no equipment, so why not bring the family out and get them to enjoy our Calgary winters,” WinSport CEO John Sutherland said.
Construction of the park has been underway for the past year.
“During the summertime we moved about 8,000 cubic yards of dirt to get the outrun flattened, so you don’t slide onto 16 Avenue,” Sutherland said. “Then during the wintertime – in the last week and a half – we’ve made a ton of snow and built the lanes.”
The park, located on the east side of WinSport’s main hill, is expected to be open until the end of March (weather permitting).
Tickets are sold in two-, three- and four-hour increments, or a WinSport Annual Family Membership can be purchased, which provides free access on Mondays and Tuesdays.
