If you like crisp winter air while getting some some exercise, you’re in luck: a stretch of the Lachine Canal bike path will be cleared of snow.
It’s a pilot project that will test out clearing operations on a 1-kilometre stretch between Richmond Street and Promenade Smith.

Benoit Dorais, the Sud-Ouest borough mayor, said his borough will be responsible for the operation.
Officials promise they will use environmentally-friendly deicing materials like sand, instead of salt.
“It’s a nice park in the heart of the city, industrial Canada was born there, so it’s a gift also to offer in the 150th birthday of our nation,” said Marc-Andre Gadoury, a spokesperson on cycling for the city of Montreal.
