Patrick received an invitation despite having not played since suffering an upper-body injury in October. The forward was forced to skip Hockey Canada’s national junior team selection camp this month as he was still recovering. It’s not known if the injury is related to the hernia surgery he underwent last off-season. Patrick has four goals and five assists in six games this season with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings.

He’s projected to go first overall in next year’s NHL draft.
