WATCH ABOVE: There's been yet another drug bust affecting operations in Lethbridge and Coalhurst. ALERT seizing not only drugs and cash, but also two vehicles. Erik Mikkelsen reports – Dec 13, 2016

A suspected fentanyl dealer in Lethbridge is facing numerous charges after the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team seized two vehicles, more than $10,000 cash, a loaded handgun and hundreds of fentanyl pills.

The investigation, concluded on Dec. 1, was targeted on a suspected fentanyl dealer operating in Lethbridge and Coalhurst, Alta.

ALERT seized 271 fentanyl pills, a loaded handgun, $13,315 cash proceeds of crime, and two vehicles. Police say the vehicles, which are worth approximately $30,000, and cash were seized as offence related property and will be referred to civil forfeiture.

“Unfortunately, fentanyl dealers are profiting at the expense of people’s lives. We are all aware of the perils and societal cost of this horrible drug and ALERT will continue to target fentanyl dealers and hold them accountable,” said S/Sgt. Rod Klassen in a statement.

The handgun was found loaded, unsecured and equipped with a prohibited 22-round magazine. Police say the handgun also appeared to have been illegally modified with aftermarket parts and the RCMP’s National Weapons Enforcement Support Team is providing assistance.
