Kelowna Salvation Army disaster truck vandalized, items stolen

The vehicle’s there in an emergency to lend a helping hand, but now, the Salvation Army’s disaster relief truck and trailer needs some help of its own.

Someone broke into the vehicle over the weekend, damaging the trailer and stealing several items.

Salvation Army staff first discovered the aftermath as they came into work Monday morning.

A generator, fuel, tents and other supplies were stolen.

“It goes to anything when there’s a disaster,” Patty Lou Bryant with the Salvation Army said. “If there was a fire right now, I don’t know what we’d do.”

Salvation Army staff estimate the value of the stolen items and damages add up to about $5,000.
