Firefighters had to pull down part of the ceiling and open up some walls in the home to fully extinguish the fire.

The family escaped safely and are now in the hands of Emergency Social Services.

Since the damage wasn’t overly extensive, the family is expected to be allowed to go back to their home once it has been repaired.

This is the second chimney fire in less than a week in the central Okanagan.
