An Alberta man has been acquitted of sexual assault in a high-profile historical case.
Jack William Kramer, of Whitecourt, Alta., was instead found guilty of break and enter with intent. He was also convicted of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in the incident, which happened more than 20 years ago in southwest Calgary.
Police had alleged Kramer broke into a home on July 12, 1995. In a past interview, the victim’s husband told Global News he woke up to his wife screaming and a man standing over their bed with a large butcher knife.
It was alleged he sexually assaulted the woman and her 15-year-old daughter while her husband was restrained.

Kramer was found not guilty of sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, robbery and being masked, his defence lawyer said Friday.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13 in Calgary.
