While Friday’s snowfall wasn’t quite the winter wallop many were expecting, the snow did eventually fall across Vancouver Island, parts of Vancouver and the Fraser Valley .

Vancouver Island Areas of the island were hit hardest by Friday’s storm, with 5 centimetres recorded at Victoria Airport and up to 12 centimetres over the Malahat region.

This region did not receive as much snow as Vancouver Island, with totals ranging from 1 to 3 centimetres but as Friday morning went on the snow did start to fall. Areas such as Langley and Surrey received more than others.

Fraser Valley Communities in the Fraser Valley received more than 5 centimetres of snow. More flurries are expected to develop this afternoon and another 5 centimetres could fall. Strong easterly winds combined with the snow will cause reduced visibility in blowing snow, especially in the Fraser Valley.
