Zoolights, shut down during frigid cold, returns Friday: Calgary Zoo

The Calgary Zoo says its annual Zoolights event will be up and running again on Friday.

Zoolights was cancelled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday due to extreme cold.

According to the zoo, many of the Zoolights events have been adapted to run during the frigid weather, with some activities moved indoors.

“We know that Canadians and Calgarians are a hearty bunch,” Roz Freeman said in a Thursday news release. “We know how to dress for the weather and a little bit of cold weather does not damper our ability to have fun.”

“There will be plenty of hot chocolate, warm fires and places for guests to take a break from the cold.”

Zoolights runs from 6p.m. until 9 p.m. evenings (except Christmas) until Jan. 8.
