The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax says a 13-metre fishing vessel which started to take on water off the coast of Nova Scotia is now on its way back to shore.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, officials received a call for help from the boat named “Tide ‘N Knots.”
A Cormorant helicopter, a 413 Squadron Hercules and multiple coast guard vessels headed to the location of the boat, about 17 nautical miles off the coast of Yarmouth.
A pump was given to the five crew on board the vessel, who were able to pump enough water off their vessel to make it stable.
There is no word on whether or not any of the fishermen were injured.
Canadian Navy Lt. Len Hickey said the Hercules was planning to escort the vessel back to shore to ensure it made it safety.
