There have been 100 peopled killed on Manitoba’s roads this year.

On Tuesdsay the RCMP tweeted out “Tragic. 100 deaths on Manitoba roads this year. Please drive safe – your life, and the life of your loved ones, depends on it.”  In 2015 there were 71 road fatalities.

RCMP said two 19-year-old women from Fisher River died in a single vehicle collision Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. and speed is considered a factor in the collision.

The deaths push the number of road fatalities in Manitoba to 100 and fall just one day after RCMP told Global News just how devastating this year has been.

“Every day, lack of attention kills people, poor decisions kill people,” Sgt. Mark Hume said.

The RCMP said the causes behind many of the 100 crashes are consistent with the following reasons topping the list:

  • 47 per cent involved speeding
  • 40 per cent impaired
  • 50 per cent no seatbelt
  • 11 per cent distracted
