Surrey RCMP say nine people have now been arrested following a shooting at a hotel in the south part of the city.
Investigators arrived at the Pacific Inn on King George Highway early Monday morning after a report of shots fired.
Guests at the hotel and a nearby senior’s home said they were woken up by gunfire around 3 a.m.
When officers arrived they found shell casings in the area as well as people, who police believe, may be tied to the incident.
The initial investigation has revealed that an altercation occurred in the parking lot, which led to people shooting between vehicles. Two vehicles were seen fleeing the area, with one of them being located shortly after. Investigators believe the second vehicle tied to this incident has also been located in another jurisdiction and are working to confirm this information.
RCMP say the investigation is still in the early stages but indications are that this was a targeted incident and the people involved knew each other.
Officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and are speaking with several witnesses to obtain further information.
