An Okanagan road safety advocate says better habits behind the wheel will lead to fewer crashes.

Paul Hergott spoke to a group assembled for the annual crash victims memorial event in Kelowna Wednesday night.

The National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims was created in Canada in 2008.

Hergott’s annual memorial is the only one that takes place in B.C.

In Canada, five people are killed in road crashes every day.

While distracted driving is often to blame, Hergott says we all need to be more attentive when operating vehicles.
