For the eighth year in Saskatchewan, Operation Red Nose (ORN) volunteers will work to get residents who are drinking responsibly back home safely.
The program runs on select dates between Nov. 25 and Dec. 31.
When called, ORN dispatches a crew of three volunteers to a location to drive both the caller and their vehicle to the destination of their choice.

“It sets the example of what we want to see 12 months of the year, not just at Christmas time. We want to see people planning that safe ride home,” Minister Responsible for SGI, Joe Hargrave said.
During the 2015 holiday season, 632 volunteers in the province provided 929 rides in The Battlefords, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
ORN will still be contained to those four communities for the 2016 holiday season, but officials with the organization encourage non-profits in other communities to become “host organizations” so the service can be offered in other cities and towns.
“We would love to expand our program to many communities in Saskatchewan. SGI also is interested in seeing some developments,” Operation Red Nose National Development Coordinator, Marie-Chantal Fortin said.
