An email traffic ticket scam is targeting people in Saskatoon for fictitious driving offenses.

Saskatoon police said people have received emails with an attached document stating the driving offence, the amount owing and the payment due date.

According to police, summary offence tickets are not sent by email.

Drivers who have been accused of an actual Traffic Safety Act offence would receive a hard copy in the mail.

Anyone who believes they have been a victim of fraud can report it to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre or call 1-888-495-8501.
