A list of Winnipeg viewing parties for 2016 US presidential election

WINNIPEG — Winnipeggers who want to follow the U.S. presidential election results in the company of others, have a variety of places to hang out Tuesday evening.

A number of local viewing parties are being held at bars across the city where people can watch live election coverage.

Here’s a partial list of where political junkies can gather:

The Tallest Poppy

The Tallest Poppy, located at 685 Westminister Ave., is hosting a ‘Nasty Women Unite’ election viewing party. It starts at 8:30 p.m. and includes election-themed food and drinks. One dollar from every “nasty women” signature cocktail will be donated to a local charity, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Good Will Social Club

The Goodwill Social Club, located at 625 Portage Ave., is hosting an ‘American Votes‘ viewing party.

The Kingshead Pub

The Kingshead Pub, located in the Exchange District at 120 King St., is screening the election. Global News will also be live at the restaurant at 6 p.m. before the polls start rolling in.

The Handsome Daughter

The Handsome Daughter, located at 61 Sherbrook St. is having an American election viewing party starting at 6 p.m. The bar will screen the election on a plasma screen television as well as a projector. There will also be election-themed cocktails and food available. If you stick around after 10 p.m., there will be karaoke, featuring songs like The Star Spangled Banner, and Bruce Springsteen’s, Born in the USA.
