A group of California dogs finally met their new owners this weekend.
The rescue dogs were flown in by the charity Thank Dog I Am Out. All 60 were saved from high-kill shelters in Northern California. A high-kill shelter means the animals are only kept at the facility for a limited time before they can be euthanized to make space for incoming animals.
When the dogs arrived in B.C., they were checked out by a vet, and they were all spayed or neutered.
Organizers say the number of stray dogs in the U.S. is a big problem and it’s fortunate homes could be found for them in B.C.
These dogs that were brought in this time are all 30 pounds and under, which is perfect for people who live in condos and apartments.
