Fresh off her victory on Chopped Canada Junior, 11-year-old Erica Bucciacchio was a guest host on Global News Morning in Montreal with anchor Laura Casella and weather specialist Kim Sullivan Friday.
Bucciacchio began cooking at around the age of five.
She says she first learned how to cook from both of her grandmothers.
We asked Bucciachio a few questions to get to know the Chopped Junior champion a little better.
What’s your favourite meal to make?
French macarons. They’re very complicated, but I like eating them.
Where do you like to eat in Montreal?
Get breaking National news
Rubs. They have barbecue-style food and I like barbecue.
How did you get started cooking?
I watched a lot of cooking shows and it looked like fun. Then I started cooking and I enjoyed it. Every week I learned a new dish and a new cooking technique.
What’s next?
I want to continue to cook and I want to learn new things. I’d like to go on a baking show because I do a lot of baking.
How did you get on to Chopped Canada Junior?
I saw a commercial on TV and I went online. I sent a picture of a dish I made and answered questions.
How often do you still cook?
I still love to cook. I like making desserts and I usually cook supper.
What are your goals for the future?
I want to go to pastry school and open a bakery because sweets are my passion.
