RCMP in the north Okanagan are hoping public tips will help them catch the man who stole a purse in broad daylight in a busy public parking lot.
Police said that on Sunday, just after 12:45 in the afternoon, a 64-year-old woman was in the parking lot of the downtown Safeway in Vernon when a man snatched her purse out of her shopping cart.
A bystander was unable to stop the thief who took off with the bag.
“As this is a fairly high traffic location, we are hoping witnesses will come forward that may have seen this theft, or the man fleeing the scene,” said Cst Jocelyn Noseworthy in a media release.
Police are looking for a slim Caucasian man, in his early twenties, who is around 5’10. Police said he was wearing a black hoody and blue jeans at the time.
