A funeral was held Wednesday for a woman killed in a fiery crash in north Edmonton late last month.
Joann Christou, 50, was killed on Oct. 24 when she was involved in a crash in the area of 97 Street and 160 Avenue.
Police said a blue Nissan Xterra was heading north on 97 Street when it was struck from behind by a white Infiniti G37. The Nissan caught fire and both vehicles veered into the ditch.
The woman driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driving the Infiniti was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Christou leaves behind a large family, including her husband, four children and three grandchildren.
Police have since charged 20-year-old Eric Lestar with impaired driving causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and refusal to comply with a blood demand.
