One woman had to be removed from her vehicle and two others were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a four-vehicle crash on Alberta’s QEII highway Saturday morning.
The crash happened just before 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near Township Road 320 in Mountain View County, EMS said.
Paramedics said all three patients requiring transport to hospital were women in their 30s. The driver who had to be removed from her vehicle was taken to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary in serious condition with “multiple traumatic injuries.” The passenger in her car got out on her own and was taken to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.
The woman driving another vehicle was taken to Didsbury hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition.
EMS briefly assessed two other people from other cars at the scene who were uninjured.
STARS Air Ambulance was requested but couldn’t take off due to weather conditions.
RCMP are investigating.
