Duo suspected in wheelchair theft at West Kelowna Walmart

West Kelowna, B.C. – RCMP are asking for the public’s help locating a wheelchair they believe two men stole Wednesday at Walmart.

Surveillance footage shows a man swapping out his wheelchair for a motorized shopping cart at the West Kelowna store’s east entrance.

A second suspect is seen accompanying him as the man heads into the store operating the cart.

As the pair leave at the west exit, the second man wheels the first out in someone else’s wheelchair parked at the door.

The first suspect was wearing a plaid jacket, black toque and blue jeans.

The second suspect had a full goatee and was wearing a tan coat with hood, black shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

“In reviewing the video surveillance footage, it appears as though the suspect knowingly left the store in someone else’s mobility aid device while leaving his own behind,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

RCMP said there is also a possibility it was a mistake.
