It was a rescue of a different sorts for the Kelowna Fire Department early Friday morning.
Fire fighters were called to a housing complex on Highway 97 across from the Super 8 Motel in Kelowna to investigate a report of a dog trapped in an old well.

After investigating, they found a cocker spaniel at the bottom of the well and had to initiate a close-confinement rescue to retrieve the animal.
Officials say the dog did not appear to be injured however it was taken to a veterinarian for an examination.
The owner of the dog had reported the animal missing two days prior to it being found in the well.
