SIU investigating after suspect bitten by police dog during pursuit in Brampton

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after two suspects were arrested following a police pursuit involving a stolen tractor-trailer in Brampton Friday morning.

Peel Regional Police said officers were conducting an investigation when the tractor-trailer struck a cruiser as it was being pulled over at McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue.

Police said two people inside the vehicle jumped out and fled on foot.

Following a police pursuit, one of the suspects was bitten by a police dog.

Both suspects were later captured by police and placed under arrest.

Police said the suspect bitten by the dog was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
