Emergency officials responded just before 3:00 p.m. to the Greenway at Mission Creek Park.

Lindsey Thomson called 9-1-1.

“We were just walking across a bridge – a group of us – and we saw him face down,” she said. “So we called 911 right away.”

“One of the guys ran down just to see if he was alive and flipped him over and saw that he wasn’t.”

RCMP, the Kelowna Fire Department, and paramedics converged at the park.

The large response shut down a section of the Greenway as rescue personnel waded into the creek for the recovery.

The area was taped off as crews pulled the body out of the creek and brought it to a waiting ambulance.

Kelowna RCMP say the man has been identified but his identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.

The B.C. Coroners Service has taken over the investigation, but the man’s death is not suspicious according to RCMP.
