Man found near Fox Drive was stabbed to death: Edmonton police

An autopsy confirmed a man found near Fox Drive on Saturday night was the victim of a homicide and died from stab wounds.

Edmonton police said 19-year-old Christopher Fawcett was fatally stabbed.

Officers responded to a “trouble not known” 911 call at around 8:30 p.m. and found a man dead at the Alfred H. Savage Centre.

EPS said a 21-year-old suspect who was in the area at the time is still a person of interest but is not in custody.

Police believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

There was a heavy police presence in the area Saturday night and part of Fox Drive near Whitemud Drive was closed off.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate.

This is Edmonton’s 36th homicide of the year.
