A stabbing in Burnaby Monday night has left one man dead in what investigators say was a targeted incident. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken control of the case.
RCMP were first called to the 6800-block of Rumble Street, near Griffith Drive, just after 8 p.m.
They searched a wooded area and found the body of a man in a ravine who appeared to have died from multiple stab wounds.
Another man was also rushed to hospital but he has since been released.
A 53-year-old man, who knew the victims, was arrested at the scene and could be facing homicide charges.
IHIT says this was a targeted incident. “At this early stage, this incident appears to be a targeted attack between individuals known to each other,” said Cpl. Meghan Foster with IHIT. “Police are looking to obtain information about the events leading up to this homicide and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”
At this time, investigators say there is no apparent connection to the homicide of Kevin Knuff that occurred on Oct. 9 at a nearby homeless camp.
The victim’s identity in this case has not been released at this time.
