Eight people have been charged with illegally hunting moose in Manitoba.

The province alleges the suspects were firing a gun from a vehicle at night in a conservation area.

Officers also seized four vehicles, guns and hunting equipment.

The province says the moose population in Manitoba’s east-central region has been in decline for years.

To help the population recover the province restricts hunting in some areas.
