Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the path of a tornado is narrow and long compared to the path of straight-line wind damage, which is generally wider and shorter.

Besides downed trees and hydro lines, the roof was torn off a Mister Transmission shop in Collingwood, Ont.

Several people were inside even though the shop was closed, but no one was injured.

A trailer was blown over in Stayner, Ont.

Meantime, Hydro One crews are working to restore power to about 1,400 customers in the Thornbury-area.

Midland PUC is also dealing with an outage after a pole was struck by lightning, resulting in the closure of most businesses on Highway 93 from Highway 12 to Penetanguishene, Ont.
