As the days become shorter and temperatures drop, you may notice your skin changing too.
Makeup artist Karen Malcolm-Pye joined Global Calgary on Monday with some tips for adjusting your skin-care routine to combat the dry fall air.
Malcolm-Pye said she started to notice her Calgary clients’ skin in early September.
“Calgary is very dry,” Malcolm-Pye said. “We feel that dehydrated feeling in our skin.”
Switch up your morning skin-care routine
To combat the dry air, Malcolm-Pye suggests being flexible with your morning moistening instead of sticking with your usual products.
“Listen to what your skin is feeling like in the morning and add what you need before you start your makeup routine.”
If trying a product for the first time, Malcolm-Pye advices doing a patch test first to make sure your skin won’t react badly.
Nourish your skin at night
When it comes to nighttime skin care, Malcolm-Pye said you want to focus on nourishing your skin.
“Your skin is healing while you’re sleeping,” Malcolm-Pye said.
Still fighting with dry skin? Try a mask
If you’re still feeling like your skin is dehydrated, Malcolm-Pye suggests trying out a facial mask.
“These are kind of like fun little additives that you can use – if your skin’s feeling really parched.
“Have some fun with your mask – because these really help.”
