UPDATE: The fog advisory ended Monday morning.
Environment Canada issued a Fog Advisory for the City of Edmonton including St. Albert, Sherwood Park and much of central Alberta.
The advisory was issued at 4:10 p.m. Sunday and warned of zero visibility expected or currently occurring in the area.
A band of fog is expected to develop from Lloydminster to Edmonton and south to Red Deer Sunday evening and could continue overnight.
“Areas of fog and patchy freezing drizzle are expected to develop this evening in the wake of the low pressure system which brought freezing rain to much of central Alberta,” the advisory stated.
Conditions were expected to improve Monday afternoon.
Motorists were being advised that visibility may be significantly reduced or suddenly reduced to zero.
“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations,” the advisory stated Sunday.
Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.
