The sixth annual Lachine hospital breakfast fundraiser wrapped up on Saturday at Barbie’s Restaurant in Dorval.
Hundreds of participants got a chance to win a little money with half and half draws, kids were treated to free stuffed toys.
This year the Lachine Hospital Foundation aimed to raise $20,000 to maintain the palliative care unit’s current services.

The foundation hopes the money will help fund therapeutic services like massages, psychiatric, music and pet therapy for over a year.
The Executive Director of the Lachine Hospital Foundation Monica McDougall said she hopes the rest of the funds will come from private donations.
According to the chief of palliative care services at Lachine Hospital, Dr. Laurie Musgrave, maintaining these services is crucial to a patient’s quality of life.
“We all know the state of the health care system, there’s not a lot of money for extras” Musgrave said.
“Medical care, nursing care: that’s all covered. But extras that we want to offer to improve our patient’s quality of care and comfort level, there’s not always money to cover these services. We feel that they’re essential and to be able to offer them to our patients.”
