OLIVER, B.C. – Global News has learned the victim of a car crash Monday morning was Osoyoos Indian Band member Beverly Anne Louie.
The 47-year-old woman’s SUV left Nk’mip Road and crashed down an embankment.
The tragedy comes as a double blow to the family.
Louie’s daughter Roxanne was found murdered in Penticton in January 2015.
The 26-year-old’s son’s great grandmother, Grace Robbotti and brother Pier Louis Robotti were charged in connection with Roxanne’s death.
The pair were released on bail and their trial is set for July of 2017 in Kelowna.
The Okanagan Nation released a statement from the Louie family which reads:
“The family of Beverly Louie would like to thank everyone for the prayers and good wishes being sent to the family. They want you to know that the fight for Justice for Roxanne Louie continues and they will continue to ensure her child is cared for and protected. The family requests privacy to mourn and process this overwhelming loss. The community and family thank you for your cooperation and support during this very sad time.”
