Many residents in Saskatchewan are now dealing with wintery weather as parts of the province saw up to 40 centimetres of snow by Oct. 5.
Saskatoon had power outages and residents were shoveling themselves out of 11 cm’s by late afternoon. This broke a 100-year-old snow fall record.
The first snow fall of the winter led to some issues across Saskatchewan.
Low visibility and high winds cancelled at least one flight out of Regina International Airport.
RCMP reported 46 minor collisions on the Saskatchewan highways, many involving vehicles in ditches.

Linda Barber is the service manager in Moose Jaw’s Canadian Tire automotive department and said Wednesday was a busy day.
“Tires, winter tires, new tires, some flat tires have been in. Just people getting caught off guard,” Barber said.
RCMP said many of Wednesday’s collisions were a result of drivers going too fast for the winter conditions.
Christine Niemczyk with CAA Saskatchewan said many drivers forget speed limits are posted for ideal weather only.
“We’ve talked to our friends in road side assistance and they have told us that there have been some cars in the ditches in the Bengough area also closer to Saskatoon and Prince Albert.”
With the Thanksgiving long weekend approaching, Niemczyk would like to remind drivers to keep a vehicle safety kit on hand while driving.
