Global Calgary is taking our shows on the road to the new international terminal at the Calgary International Airport.
It doesn’t officially open to the public until Oct. 31, but we are getting an early sneak peek inside. We’ve had exclusive, early access to show you what makes this new two-million-square-foot facility unique.
We were there first thing Thursday morning with Doug Vaessen reporting live for Global News Morning.
Watch below: A nearly three billion dollar expansion is being unveiled at the Calgary International Airport. When the airport’s new terminal opens later this month it will double the size of YYC. Doug Vaessen gives us a sneak peek.
Gord Gillies, Linda Olsen and the rest of the Global News team will be the only television crew broadcasting live inside at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
#OurYYC On the Road: Tell us why Global News Hour should come to you
From curb to gate and gate to curb, we’ll look at how international air travel in Calgary is changing with self-service kiosks and baggage drops.
Once you get past security, international and U.S. travellers will gather separately in large spaces.
We’ll explain that new call-to-gate system and also give you a look at the YYC Link Shuttle, which will move passengers between the domestic terminal and the new international terminal.
We’ll also find out why local retailers have decided YYC is right for expansion plans, even in a difficult economy. We investigate what this could mean for tourism and attracting new business.
