Dorval Avenue getting major makeover

Driving into Dorval is a little tricky these days. The main gateway into the city is under construction.

Dorval Avenue is getting an entire makeover stretching from Lakeshore Road to the Dorval Circle.

Construction crews are rebuilding the street and sidewalks, and new granite curbs, lamp posts and a bike lane are being added.

The entire project costs $3.8 million and the work will last until the end of the month.

Dorval Avenue is one of the most important roads in the city and for all of the west island.

It’s the main entrance that leads to dozens of businesses, homes and some of the city’s most picturesque areas.

The mayor insists it’s important this street leaves a lasting impression once the work is complete.

“Dorval Avenue for us is our Sherbrooke or Ste-Catherine for Montreal. Because it’s our main street our rue principale,” Edgar Rouleau told Global News.

When the job is done, a second layer of asphalt is scheduled to be applied next spring.
