Toronto police are looking for a suspect after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by a man who posed as a Uber driver.
Police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday after the driver approached a 25-year-old woman in the Spadina Avenue and King Street West area claiming to be a driver for the ride-sharing service.
The man drove the woman to Etobicoke where he then pulled over and sexually assaulted her, according to police.
Officers are looking for a male suspect who was driving a four-door Honda.
An Uber spokeswoman encouraged riders to double check the driver’s name, picture and vehicle information on the app before getting into the vehicle. She also told Global News riders can share their estimated time of arrival information with friends or family as well as send information to Uber after the ride.
