RCMP say they had to release the two individuals they had in custody late Thursday evening because there was not enough evidence to press charges against the pair.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson says the investigation into the Downey’s homicide remains open and active.
Hutchinson says RCMP are still appealing to the public for information about two vehicles that were seen fleeing North Preston shortly after the gunshots were fired on April 23. Investigators say a white car was seen leaving from the Alex Lane area and a second vehicle of interest, a dark coloured SUV, was also seen in the area around the time of the killing.
