Manitoba Bisons rookie place kicker honoured by CIS

WINNIPEG — Manitoba Bisons place kicker Brad Mikoluff has been named the CIS Special Teams Athlete of the Week following a perfect performance in his first university start.

The rookie hit all three of his field goal attempts in Saturday’s 38-17 comeback win over the eighth ranked Saskatchewan Huskies. He added three successful converts to finish with 12 points in the game.

“He’s been chomping at the bit and he handled it well,” said Bisons head coach Brian Dobie. “Coming off the bench and doing that, really stepping up, that says a lot about his character.”

Mikoluff also averaged 60 yards off five kickoffs against the Huskies.

This is the second straight week a member of the Bisons has been honoured by the CIS. Quarterback Theo Deezar took home the offensive award last week.
