A major milestone was reached Tuesday in the rebirth of the Reversing Falls Restaurant in Saint John, and it is a sight to see.
A 26,000 pound skywalk has been installed on top of the building — it juts 25 feet out from the corner with the churning water below.
It’s part of the vision of Max Kotlowski, who is breathing new life into the building.
“It’s just amazing, the power of a dream,” Kotlowski said.
The skywalk is just part of the major renovation job he is undertaking after being granted a 60-year lease on the property from the city.

“We didn’t want to go too far out because we were afraid we were going to make it look funny,” Kotlowski said. “We wanted everything to be balanced.”
Kotlowski says next up is what’s called a geodesic dome.
“It’s made of triangles,”he said.
“Its a very magical situation where you can take these triangles and make a really strong structure. It will be made entirely of aluminum and glass it will function as a greenhouse.”
Many people braved a rainy day to watch the event, including former Saint John councillor Bill Farren who supported Kotlowski’s bid the take control of the property. The city had planned to demolish the structure.
“We need to re-instill our pride in this city instead of tearing things apart,” Farren said.
The new Reversing Falls Restaurant is expected to open next spring.
