With only two games left at home, Rider fans are remembering their favourite memories at the old Mosaic Stadium, including former Roughriders president and CEO Jim Hopson.

Hopson led the organization between 2005 and 2014. He said some of his favourite times were on Taylor field, including two Grey Cup championship wins.

“I’m going to miss it a lot. I played high school football there, I played junior football there, played with the Riders there. To me, it’s a special place,” he recalled while speaking with Rider fans and signing autographs of his book Running the Riders at Chapters.

Hopson said the blackout during a home game against the Edmonton Eskimos in 2007 will always hold a special place in his heart.

“It was probably a turning point for us. We seemed to come out of the locker room and energized. Edmonton was winning [at the time but] we won the game, and we never looked back,” he said.

“[The city] brought in the old seats, the wooden seats as part of the decor. They’re going to try and bring a lot of that into the stadium. It’ll have to build its own memories,” he said.
