15-year-old fatally stabbed at TTC bus platform near Scarborough Town Centre

A 15-year-old boy has died after he was stabbed during an altercation at the TTC’s Scarborough Centre RT station Friday.

According to Toronto police, emergency crews were called to the bus platform level next to Scarborough Town Centre mall near Brimley Road and Progress Avenue around 9:20 p.m. after a fight occurred between two groups of people.

Officers found the wounded teen after arriving at the scene. Paramedics rushed him to hospital where he later died.

Homicide squad Det. Jeffery Tavares told Global News that investigators are going through surveillance video from the station and the buses at the platform. He is asking for witnesses to come forward.

“We know that at 9 o’clock at night it is a very, very busy area for the TTC platform at the Scarborough Town Centre. A lot of the employees were let out of work after 9,” Tavares said.

A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be performed Saturday.
